(Vulpes velox)

This photograph was taken at one of the Karval Area Ranches on the Colorado Prairie Wildlife Photo Trail. The domestic steer had wandered close to the fox's den, and the fox appeared to be trying to draw it away. As they walked along the fence, the fox would retreat when it was challenged by the steer. Eventually, they got far enough from the den, and the fox went off into the field on the far side of the fence.
